Not that any days are bad days, but today was especially nice! It was a very productive and HOT day. The morning started off with our usual french pressed coffee and something small for breakfast. Today it was Entenmann’s Crumb Donuts. Those things and about 30 other types of sweets are my kryptonite. After breakfast we drove to the storage place we’ve been keeping our dinghy, dinghy outboard and life raft for a month. We are finally to a point where we felt organized enough to bring on those goodies (and we didn’t want to pay for another month of storage). Those three items were Christmas gifts from my parent’s and my brother and we are VERY THANKFUL!!! Later, two very nice gentlemen from Mack Sails installed our new roller furling for the jib. Very exciting! Jordan was with them the entire time watching and asking questions. He is always so curious when it comes to learning something new – good for him! I was in the cabin hiding from the beating sun and eating potato chips : / After the installation was done, we decided we had to go to the beach. We hopped in the jeep and were there in about five minutes. We are lucky to be so close! We walked on, threw down our towel and sandals, and went straight into the water. Jordan was all the way out, I was waist deep and following, when I noticed the lifeguard waving us in. I quickly glanced down the beach and realized that no one else within eyesight was in the water. Oops! We didn’t notice the red flag that was up when we got there. I yelled for Jordan to come back and when we got back in to the lifeguard he told us there were a couple of spinner sharks spotted in the last 20 minutes. He said the warm water and bait fish running up the coast was most likely the cause for the sharks to be so close to shore, and they usually hunt in packs! It was then that I recalled a woman talking to a couple of people about seeing a shark when we first walked onto the beach. The fact that it was then and there did not cross my mind. Oh well, all was good. The sharks had their fill and we got to go back into the water ten minutes later. It was just too hot to be scared, so we went back in. We were joking about feeling like the people in Jaws slowly tip toeing back into the water as the mayor urges them back in. Hah!
